This year due to COVID this event will not be open to the General Public. We will be asking that 2 members from each family come to pay tribute to their loved ones. They will have time to go lay flowers and take a few minutes to remember those who made the Ultimate Sacrifice. This will happen at staggered times on September 27th. We will have some members of our Honour Guard present to escort the families with masks and social distancing in place,

Obituary for Walter Waganka
Waganka, Walter.
Passed away suddenly on February 17, 2020.
Predeceased by parents Walter and Luba (nee Cinciruk).
Long time and cherished friend Cindy Armstrong.
He worked for the City of Kitchener, Fire Service from 1987-2017 and founded Medstar First Aid Services Inc. since 2001. He has been an auxiliary member of the Ontario Provincial Police since 1982.
He volunteered with the Kitchener Waterloo St. John Ambulance Brigade from 1979-2004.
Walter was a life long member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration.
He Graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Honours Urban and Regional Planning.
He was a paramedic with the Royal City Ambulance Service-Guelph until 2008.
Walter was an Instructor with Rescue 7 and an instructor trainer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
His interests include: model railroads, ice skating and traveling.
Walter’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 with prayers (panakhyda) at 7:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral will be held at Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 12:30 p.m., followed by a burial at Woodland Cemetery and a reception will follow at Henry Walser Funeral home.
Donations to the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
